Over 500 police officers carried out a coordinated dawn search of three properties in Crewe, which included the secretive headquarters for the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light—a religious group that is rooted within Shia Islam that claims to be the only authentic universe-wide religion.
Cheshire Police made multiple arrests early on Wednesday morning after they executed warrants against three properties linked to the organization, which include its headquarters located at Webb House, a former children’s orphanage located on Victoria Avenue. Police officers with Cheshire Constabulary and neighboring forces were on location at around 8:50 am, while detectives conducted an exhaustive inspection of the site.
The alleged crimes involve one victim, one woman who was part of the club at the time of the incidents, which are believed to have taken place in 2023. Police have stated that there is no other danger to the local population.

What is the Ahmadiyya Religion of Peace and Light?
The beliefs of the group are established in Shia Islam. The followers believe that Shia Islam is the only truly universal religion and that they are chosen by God. It was founded in Iraq in the latter part of 1990 and has since grown to include over forty nations. However, the sect has been subjected to discrimination in Muslim-majority countries, where their beliefs are generally seen as blasphemous and are resented by the wider Muslim world.
About 150 people occupied the Webb House property at the time of the raid.
