NEET UG Section-Wise Paper Analysis

Overall Verdict

Based on an analysis by experts Based on expert analysis, the overall paper was moderately difficult. Based on expert analysis, the paper was moderately difficult, with physics being the most demanding section and biology the highest-scoring section with direct NCERT-based questions. The general difficulty of NEET 2026 was similar to NEET 2025 trends—not easy, nor terribly difficult.

Based on initial feedback from students and analysis by experts, the NEET 2026 UG paper was slightly less difficult in comparison to NEET 2025, mainly because of the heavy use of NCERT in chemistry and biology; however, physics ensured that top scores depended on accuracy, speed, and a smart approach to attempts.

Physics — Toughest Section

Physics is the longest section, with a large quantity of numerical tests, particularly from mechanics as well as electricity. There were some questions that were quite long and made this section difficult.

Analysis by Matrix Academy suggests physics could seem moderately complicated, with the majority of questions being application-based and conceptual. It is recommended that students keep track of their time during chemistry or biology to make additional time to complete the physics section.

The most important topics are Mechanics, current electricity, and modern physics.

Chemistry — Balanced & Scoring

Chemistry has a more balanced approach to scoring better. The majority of questions are from NCERT, specifically the Inorganic Chemistry. Physical chemistry has a couple of numerical problems, whereas organic chemistry focuses on reactions and the fundamental concepts.

The most important topics are the following: Organic Reactions, Coordination Compounds, p-Block, d-Block Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics

Biology — Easiest & Highest-Scoring

Biology (Botany and Zoology) The Biology (Botany + Zoology) section was the highest-scoring section, with 360 points (50 percent of the total marks), with mostly direct NCERT questions on conceptual issues.

Botany might seem a bit less difficult than zoology; however, in the end, biology can help students improve their scores significantly. The majority of questions are directly derived from NCERT lines, as well as diagrams and examples.

Important topics: Genetics, ecology, and Human Physiology

NEET 2026 Answer Key

Following the exam, the various coaching institutes will publish their individual NEET 2026 answer key along with solutions for every paper code. Candidates can make use of these answer key PDFs in order to estimate their scores. It is expected that the actual NEET answer key 2026, issued by NTA, will be available within 10-15 days following the test.

The NEET 2026 answer key is scheduled to be released during the final week of June or May 2026. The definitive answer key is expected to be published through the NTA in the 2nd or 3rd week in June 2026.

Qualifying Cutoff Percentile

The NEET qualifying cutoff percentile is set each year:

Category Qualifying Percentile
General / EWS 50th Percentile
SC / ST / OBC 40th Percentile
PwD – SC / ST / OBC 40th Percentile
PwD – Gen / EWS 45th Percentile

Expected Cutoff 2026

The cutoff date for NEET 2026 will be determined by the overall difficulty of the exam. Given that the paper is expected to be easy, the cutoff could remain within NEET 2025. If physics is a little more difficult, this could affect overall scoring, whereas biology can help boost the average score.

If the test is easy to write, the cutoff will likely rise due to greater overall scores. Cutoff trends for the final paper will be apparent after analysis of the results.

What to Expect Next
