Gujarat Titans beat RCB by 4 wickets, beating the total of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 150 in only 15.5 overs. GT was the first to win and decided to bat first. A choice that was rewarded with a handsome win as their bowlers held RCB to a score below par while their top-order batsmen made an easy job at chasing.
RCB Innings: 155 All Out (19.2 Overs)
RCB did not really get going during their innings. Virat Kohli made a promising start, scoring a quick 28 off only 13 balls; however, his first dismissal against Kagiso Rabada, in the fourth over, made the innings without a secure point. Devdutt Padikkal did his best, scoring a dependable 40 off 24 balls; however, wickets continued to fall in the opposite direction.
Rajat Patidar added 19, and some useful lower-order contributions included Romario Shepherd (17) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (15*). But RCB was unable to form the type of solid team that was needed for the innings. The team was bowled for just 155 in 19.2 overs, which was around 20-25 runs under at this particular ground.
The bowling of GT was superb. Mohd Arshad Khan was the most popular player with three wickets and 22, which was 3.2 overs. Rashid Khan was brilliantly economical with 2/19 overs. Jason Holder contributed 2/29.

GT Innings: 158/6 (15.5 Overs)
It was ended within the first eight overs. Shubman Gill came out guns blazing, hitting 43 from just 18 balls. He also hit four sixes and three fours, thereby giving GT an unstoppable platform. His first stand of 42 and Sai Sudharsan’s placed the Titans well in control immediately from the start of the over.
As Gill was stricken, Jos Buttler walked in and continued his assault, hitting a stunning 39 off just 19 balls, with three sixes. When Buttler got dismissed after the 8th over, GT needed less than 80 runs in more than 12 overs, and the game was as excellent as it got.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept RCB in the race with three wickets. Romario Shepherd took two wickets; the run rate did not rise enough to cause any alarm. Rahul Tewatia ended the innings by putting together 27 not out from 17 balls, taking GT to victory with just 25 balls left.
Josh Hazlewood was the weak component of RCB’s attack, registering 56 runs in just 4 overs with no wicket figures that should cause concern to the management.

Verdict
This was a performance that stood out by the Gujarat Titans. They put together a total team effort, taking RCB off under immense pressure and then taking down the chase with ferocious and fearless batting in the middle of the field. Shubman Gill’s performance is a major problem for every other IPL team right now.
For RCB, the batting line-up was unable to perform collectively. Given the level of talent they display when it comes to paperwork, the score of 150 on the Ahmedabad surface is not enough. This loss is going to be bitter. They’ll need to make a huge improvement in all departments during their forthcoming games.
Result: Gujarat Titans beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 4 wickets.
