Kawasaki KLX230 S has been launched in India, and this one is not just another colour update wearing a helmet. The new KLX230 S joins Kawasaki’s 2027 model-year KLX230 range, and its biggest highlight is simple but important: a lower seat height.
For many riders, especially those who love off-road motorcycles but do not love standing on tiptoe at traffic signals, this is welcome news. Kawasaki has introduced the KLX230 S alongside the standard KLX230 and KLX230R S, expanding the range to three models in India.
What Is New in the Kawasaki KLX230 S?
The Kawasaki KLX230 S is basically the more approachable version of the KLX230. The standard KLX230 has a tall off-road stance, which looks cool but can feel intimidating for shorter riders. Kawasaki has addressed that by lowering the seat height of the S variant to 830mm.
BikeWale reports that this is 50mm lower than the standard version. The suspension travel is also reduced to 160mm at the front and 163mm at the rear, while ground clearance drops to 220mm.

Kawasaki KLX230 S Price in India
The updated KLX range now starts at ₹1.89 lakh for the KLX230R S, while the KLX230 and Kawasaki KLX230 S are priced at ₹2.19 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Autocar India reports that deliveries for the KLX230R S are expected from mid-August 2026, while the KLX230 and KLX230 S are expected to follow from mid-September.
This price point puts the KLX230 S in a niche but interesting space. It is not a mass-market commuter. It is not a full-size ADV either. It is for riders who want a proper off-road flavour without buying something that feels too bulky.
Engine and Performance
The Kawasaki KLX230 S uses the same 233cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine as the standard KLX230. Reports mention output figures of around 18.7bhp and 19Nm.
On paper, that may not sound wild. But off-road bikes are not only about peak power. They are about balance, low-speed control, weight, suspension behaviour and how confidently the bike lets you move around. Think of it like this: not every gym guy can climb a mountain, and not every horsepower figure tells the full story.
Seat Height: The Real Hero
The Kawasaki KLX230 S exists because seat height matters. A tall bike can scare away new riders even before the engine starts. With an 830mm seat, the KLX230 S becomes more usable for riders who found the standard 880mm seat too tall.
Kawasaki’s official KLX230 page lists the standard bike’s seat height at 880mm, kerb mass at 139kg, ground clearance at 255mm and fuel tank capacity at 7.5 litres.
