The intense campaign for Assembly elections held in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry ended on the 7th of April 2026. This marked the close of an entire month of political warfare. The final day was filled with intense protests, intense political debates as well as an “roast-style” battle between the political leaders, which reflected the fiery nature of the elections.

In Kerala the state, the election is predominantly thought of as a direct competition against the government Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF). It is believed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is gradually increasing its percentage of votes across Kerala, is seeking to expand its presence.
While in Assam the political landscape is witnessing a tense conflict against the party of the BJP NDA that is seeking to run for a third time as well as a newly-formed six-party alliance headed by Congress. The outcome of this contest is likely to be a major indicator of the changing political landscape in the Northeastern region.

In Puducherry the race is focused on the ruling NDA comprised of both the All India NR Congress and the BJP as well as that of the Congress-DMK coalition. The territory of the union remains politically significant because of its distinctive regional dynamics and the coalition political system.
