Russia has launched one of its biggest drone and missile attacks against Ukraine in the past year. claiming the lives of at least 18, and wounding over 100 people in a series of strikes targeting several important cities. Ukrainian authorities said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia deployed 659 drones and 44 missiles over 24 hours, destroying important urban areas like Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. The massive assault resulted in massive destruction, causing damage to residences and setting off infernos across the nation.
Ukrainian authorities confirmed that at least 18 children, among them were killed, and 118 were injured. Teams of emergency response worked throughout the night to save survivors and put out fires triggered by the strike.

In Kyiv there were four people killed and a child of 12 years old was among them. His body was found in the rubble of a demolished residence. A total of 50 people were wounded in Kyiv alone. Local reports indicate that a missile strike was extremely close to a construction site, causing injuries to six workers who are in critical condition.
The tragedy was particularly devastating in the city of Odesa, where eight victims were killed in one residential structure. The structure was struck first by a drone, which killed one person, and another ballistic missile attack brought about more fatalities.
The videos published by the Ukraine’s emergency authorities showed flames that engulfed the structure as well as rescuers removing victims from the scene.
In Dnipro Three victims were killed, and another 34 were injured. At least one death was confirmed in Zaporizhzhia. Authorities have described the coordinated attack as being among the most violent aerial attacks over the past few months.

Volodymyr Zelensky was critical of the strike, noting the fact that Russia continues to increase its involvement in the conflict rather than pursuing peace. The strikers show the need for ongoing global pressure as well as sanctions on Moscow.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine also described the actions as “a war crime,” accusing Russia of intentionally striking civilian zones.
