In the match between KKR and LSG, the latter scored 181/4 in just 20 overs after being allowed to bat. The hosts appeared to be ready to win, since more than 50 runs were required in the last four overs of LSG, and the team was without experienced batters. But Mukul raised his hand and took the team to the line on the last ball of the match with three wickets left.
“When the 64-run score was required in the final 4 overs, I was thinking this was what happens when you are a coach. When you’re on the field or speaking, you’re in a comfortable position. I was contemplating what I would say to players following the game. I think we bowled superbly on this wicket. We performed admirably. I did not even notice that regardless of whether we lost or won,” said Langer.
“Our bowling was outstanding and our fielding excellent, so I was very satisfied with the result. However, we also discussed the responsibility that comes with it. A 22-year-old boy has taken on responsibility, and what a wonderful effort it was,” he added.
