Rajasthan Royals produced a sensational performance to knock Sunrisers Hyderabad out of IPL 2026 with a dominant 47-run victory in the Eliminator on Tuesday night. The star of the match was 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose explosive 97 off just 29 balls completely changed the game and sent RR into Qualifier 2.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Blistering Knock Stuns SRH 
The young Rajasthan Royals opener delivered one of the most destructive innings in IPL playoff history at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in New Chandigarh. Sooryavanshi smashed 12 sixes and five boundaries during his breathtaking 29-ball 97, narrowly missing what would have been the fastest century in IPL history.
His fearless assault helped Rajasthan Royals race to 125 runs within the first eight overs, putting Sunrisers Hyderabad completely under pressure from the beginning. The teenager also broke Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for the most sixes in a single IPL season.
Rajasthan Royals Post Massive Total
Batting first, Rajasthan Royals piled up a massive 243/8 in 20 overs — their highest total in IPL history. After Sooryavanshi’s explosive start, Dhruv Jurel continued the attack with a rapid half-century, scoring 50 off just 21 balls. Riyan Parag also added valuable runs during the death overs to maintain RR’s dominance.
Although SRH bowlers managed to slow things slightly in the final overs, the damage had already been done by Rajasthan’s explosive batting lineup.
Jofra Archer Leads RR Bowling Attack
Chasing a daunting target of 244, Sunrisers Hyderabad never fully recovered after losing early wickets. Jofra Archer struck in the very first over by dismissing Abhishek Sharma and later removed dangerous batters including Ishan Kishan and Travis Head.
SRH attempted to fight back through Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy, but Rajasthan Royals bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Archer finished with three wickets, while Nandre Burger and other RR bowlers supported him with disciplined bowling performances.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs.
SRH Knocked Out of IPL 2026
The defeat officially ended Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL 2026 campaign despite several strong performances throughout the season. Captain Pat Cummins admitted after the match that losing wickets at crucial moments prevented SRH from building momentum during the chase.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals advanced to Qualifier 2, where they will face Gujarat Titans for a place in the IPL 2026 final.
