Sanju Samson delivered a kptaanii strike under pressure, slamming his first century for the Indian Premier League 2026 to help Chennai Super Kings to a impressive 212/2 win against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on the 11th of April.
After the quick demise by Ruturaj Gaikwad (15), Samson took the bat and was able to anchor it superbly. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored his century in only 52 balls and went on to win for 115 off just 56 deliveries. The rout included fifteen fours and four sixes. He struck at an astonishing rate of more than 200.
Samson scored his fourth IPL century, and his first since 2021. This makes him the only player in history to score 100 during the IPL season of 2026.
The run was particularly important since he struggled to find form in the past, scoring only 22 runs over the previous three games following his highly-publicized move to CSK from Rajasthan Royals to CSK for 18 crore.

Samson had a strong backing from young talented Ayush Mhatre, who put in an impressive 59-run innings before being dismissed. They forged an important 113-run partnership which set the stage for CSK’s huge total.
Following the game, Samson credited his return to basics as the reason behind his improvement. He admitted that his recent mistakes caused doubts, but he stressed staying true to his game. He was also highly praised for the conditions at the wicket as well as his teamwork with Mhatre and called it vital to achieving a huge score.
